Day by Day Details Itinerary

Day 01: Delhi - Leh flight
Early morning transfer to the domestic airport to catch the flight to Leh. This surely is one of the most sensational scheduled flights in the world, taking you right over the top of the Greater Himalaya before dropping down in a series of steep turns, to land at the small airport at Leh. Flight time approx. 1½ hours. You will be met on arrival and driven through Leh to check into the Hotel. Leh is at an altitude of 11,500ft/3,500m and therefore we recommend that the rest of the day be spent resting to help adjust to the altitude.

Day 02: Sightseeing Leh
visit the monasteries at Shey and Thiksey. Shey gompa is situated on a small hill 10 miles south of Leh and was once the residence of the royal family. It was constructed by the first king of Ladakh, Lhachen Palgyigon, and was the seat of power of the pre-Tibetan kings. Thiksey gompa is located 15 miles from Leh. It is a very imposing monastery and one of the finest example of Ladakhi architecture of any type. The 12 storey building contains numerous stupas, statues, thankas and wall paintings as well as a large pillar engraved with the Buddha's teachings. The main prayer hall has a 50 feet high seated Buddha figure.

Day 03: Leh- Phyang- Phyang phu (4 hrs trek)
We will drive to Phyang monastery, 17km. west of Leh is remarkably built on the hilltop, similar to the Likir monastery. This monastery belongs to the Degungpa Order. It was the first monastery, which introduced the Degungpa teaching of 'Skyob Jigsten Gonbo' in Ladakh that was founded by Chosje Danma Kunga, during the reign of King Jamyang Namgyal in the 16th Century A.D. It has about 50 monks in residence. Phyang also has a festival called 'Phyang Tseruk' on the 2nd & 3rd of the 6th month of Tibetan Calendar. After visiting the Monastery, trek to Phyang Phu. Today is a short day in terms of walking but a good day for acclimatization.

Day 04: Phyang phu- South base of Lasermo 4700m (4 hrs trek)
After a leisurely breakfast, we will continue our trek to the base of Lasermo La 4700 m.

DAY 05 : Rest day in Lasermo base

A day called off at lasermo base for acclimatization. From there the view of complete Stok range refresh the mind specially the stok peak which is as high as 6130m above sea level. Stok range and Ladakh range are the ranges where the leh is situated in between. This trekking is one of the major routes for crossing the Ladakh range. This day will be specially called off for preparation for walking up lasermo which is 5400m.

Day 06: South base of Lasermo- North base via Lasermola 5400m (6-7 hrs trek)
Today we start quite early in the morning as we will cross the Lasermo Pass (5400m). The top of Lasermo pass offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, the Indus valley and the Shayok Valley . The trail from the pass towards our camp passes rough moraines for an hour and a half. It is important to start early, as the ponies must cross the glacier before midday in order to avoid difficulties arising from snow and ice melting. The campsite is in a beautiful meadow and offer opportunities to explore and see flowers growing at high altitude.

 

Day 07: North base- Hundar Dok (5 hrs trek)
Today we will walk down through meadows, flowers, and sometimes rocks. Most of the time, we will be walking along the Hundar stream. After following the stream for a while, we will pass through shepherds' huts, where the men and women from Hundar Dok Village live with their Yaks, cows, goats and sheep. They could be seen collecting milk, cheese, butter, wild vegetables and fuel for the winter. If you feel adventurous, you can taste the delicious milk and cheese with Tsampa. Purchasing these is not possible in Leh. Our campsite is just above the Village of Dok Gongma ( Upper Dok ).

Day 08: Hunder upper dok- Skarchen (5 hrs trek)
Another beautiful day. We will pass through the villages of Dok Gongma, Dok Yokma and Wachan, which are names of different places with concentrations of scattered houses belonging to a common village known locally as Hundar Dok. If you are not in a hurry to get to your camp at Skarchen (a place where some of the local families go with their animals during the winter), you can spend sometime exploring the villages and share a few moments getting to know the locals.

Day 08: Skarchen- Hunder (4 hrs trek)
The last day of trekking is through the beautiful Hunder Gorge, which opens up just before descending to Hunder Bridge . Before the final descent we will have a great view of Saser Kangri Peak (7672m). Upon arrival check in to the tents and later visit hundar chamba and the old mani wall with all the stone inscription. The chamba is one of the oldest chamba in the western Tibet . The face expression and the outlook of the statue tell it all. After that drive to the sand dune for double humped camel ride

Day 10. Sightseeing in Nubra

After the breakfast at the camp drive to Diskit visit the monastery which is belong to the Geluk pa sect, later drive to Sumur another pretty village on the other side of the river'; Samstaling Gompa here was founded by Lama Tsultims Nima and Monastic community was introduced as Rezong Gonpa. About 50 monks are residing at this 132 years old Monastery.  

Day 11. Nubra/Leh  by jeep 4/5 hrs

Today we drive to Leh over Khardong la pass 5600mt which is the highest motor able road in the world, from the top you can see a beautiful of Karakoram and Zanskar range, reach leh and night in Hotel.

Day 12: Transfer to Leh Air port, arrivein delhi evening transfer to the international air port.
