Day by Day Details Itinerary

   

Day 01: Delhi– Shimla (340 km.)

Early morning drive to Shimla. Arrive Shimla by  evening. Evening, hike around the Shimla .Market. Overnight at Hotel. Shimla, originally called Simla, is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. In 1864, Shimla was declared the summer capital of the British Raj in India. Shimla is often referred to as the "Queen of Hills" (a term coined by the British), draped in forests of pine, rhododendron, and oak. Experiences pleasant summers and cold, snowy winters. The city is famous for its buildings styled in tudorbethan and neo-gothic architecture dating from the colonial era. The city is named after the goddess Shyamala Devi, an incarnation of the Hindu Goddess Kali.

Day 02: Shimla – Manali {257 km / 7 hrs}

After breakfast you start your ride for about 257 km to Manali. The road to Manali offers one of the best riding experiences in India: today’s ride takes you over well-surfaced roads, which twist and turn, through and across an endless chain of hills – kullu a veritable biking paradise! Overnight in hotel.

Day 03: Manali – Keylong {125 km / 6 hrs}

Today you set out after an early breakfast (07.00 Hours) via Marhi  then climbs through the first pass on the tour – Rohtang La [3985m]. From Manali, the road takes you through the village of Palchan, before it begins a sharp climb to Kothi [2530m] set below towering cliffs. Beautiful views of hillsides and meadows specked with conifers unwind, as the road climbs to 2800 metres; gradually conifers giving way to poplars and then banks of flowers. Further, the road climbs through a series of tight hairpin bends to the Rohtang Pass, from where you get spectacular views of precipitous cliffs, deep ravines, large glaciers and moraines. From here you descend to Gramphoo and Khoksar; at the police check-post at Khoksar, it may be required to show your passport. As the road turns north approaching Tandi, the Chandra River rushes through a gorge, giving a superb view of the massively contorted, folded and faulted rocks of the Himalayas. In the late afternoon you check into a fixed camp, pitched between two valleys, offering good views. O/n Camp.

Day 04: Keylong – Sarchu {130 km / 6 hrs}

After breakfast, at about 07.30 Hours, you start the day’s ride for Sarchu. From Keylong, the road passes through a high altitude desert with extraordinary mountain views. You take timeout for a tea break at Darcha, another check-post, where our companion – the Bhaga River – has been bridged. Further, the road climbs to Patseo, from where you can get bird’s eye-view of Darcha; a little further is Zingzingbar. The country gets wilder now: icy streams flow across the road that at times disappears into grey and red-brown scree, tumbled down from the bare mountainside to the road’s periphery. The ‘now-here-now-gone’ track goes over the Baralacha La [4880m] standing at the crossroads of Lahaul, Zanskar, Spiti and Ladakh regions, before dipping down to Sarchu. On arrival, check into alpine tents with attached toilets, and relax. O/n Tents.

Day 05: Ride Bike Sarchu – Nakeela (4730m) - Tsokar Lake (120 km.)

Morning after breakfast, ride your bike to Tsokar, 118 Km from Sarchu. After crossing the border between Himachal and Jammu & Kashmir at Sarchu, drive straight to foot of Nakeela (4740m) then drive up hill in loops (gata loop) up to the Nakeela. En-route superb view of surrounding colored mountains, halt at Pang for tea and some refreshment then proceed to Tsokar. Arrive Tsokar (Salty Lake), Overnight at fix camp in Pangunagu. (4590m)

Tsokar Lake is approximately 95 km northwest of the Tsomoriri Lake at a height of 4,490m. It is also called "White Lake" because of the salt deposited around it- this is because there is no outlet from and sell it all over Ladakh and Kashmir by the local nomads known as the Changpas. Tsokar Lake is breeding grounds for a variety of birds among them the bar-headed goose, the great crested grebe, the brahmin duck and the brown headed gull.

Day 06: Ride Bike Tsokar – Polokongkala (4970m) - Tsomoriri Lake (86 km.)

Leave camp after breakfast for Tsomoriri, 86km. Today you cross one pass and ou pass through spectacular view of surrounding mountains and hot sulphur spring at Puga village, Tibetan refugee village Sumdo and awesome Kyagar-tso Lake (beautiful small Lake) with Nomadic camp. Continue with enjoying the riding along the bank of Tsomoriri Lake up as far as Korzok village. Overnight at fix camp in Korzok with spectacular view of Lake. Afternoon short ride around the Lake while capturing the view of imposing scenery of the turquoise Lake. (4620m)

Tsomoriri Lake located in the Changthang (northern plains) area, is a High Altitude Lake with an altitude of 4620m, the largest of the High Altitude Lakes in the Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region, entirely within India. It It is 23km long and 4-5km wide and is hemmed between Ladakh in the North and Tibet in the east and Zanskar in the west; the Changthang plateau is the geographical setting with snow peaks that provides the source of water for the Lake. Accessibility to the lake is limited to summer season only. Tsomoriri Lake is also breeding grounds for a variety of birds among them the bar-headed goose, the great crested grebe, the brahmin duck and the brown headed gull.

Day 07: Ride Bike Tsomoriri – Chumathang - Sakti (190 km.)

Have breakfast with spectacular and beautiful view of Tsomoriri Lake. Start your riding to Sakti village. Cross Mahe Bridge over Indus River then continue your journey along with the Indus River as far as Kharu village. On the way, many beautiful villages and Hot sulphur spring at Chumathang. At Kharu, take right hand side road that leads to Sakti village. Arrive Sakti and visit Takthok (Rock roof) monastery, famous for meditation. Famous for black and white astrology. Overnight at Camp in Sakti. (3650m)

Day 08: Ride Bike Sakti – Warila (5250m) - Nubra (135 km.)

Morning after breakfast, ride bike to Nubra by crossing Wari-la pass (5250m) that provides spectacular view of wonderful landscape. Cross the pass then enter in Nubra valley also known as valley of flowers. En route, you enjoy riding across Shyok River, enchanting valley and wonderful gorges and charming villages of Nubra valley. Overnight at fix Camp in Nubra.

Day 09: Ride Bike Tirith – Diskit – Hunder – Tirith

Morning after breakfast drive to Deskit and visit the picturesque monastery , built on hill top in 1820 by Lama Paldan Sherap, It’s a branch of Thiksey monastery and there reside about 80 monks. Just below the monastery you, visit recently built big statue (100ft) of Maitreya Buddha. This statue was inaugurated by H.H. 14th Dalai Lama on 26 July 2010. After Diskit, continue drive to Hunder where you find attractive Sand dunes and you enjoy the double humped camel riding for an hour. After enjoying the camel riding, drive back to Tirith. Overnight at Camp. (3400m)

Day 10: Ride Bike Nubra – Khardongla (5400m) – Leh(120 km.)

Morning after breakfast, ride to Leh, 120km. En-route you cross the world highest mororable road, Khardong-la (5400m). Creating the history, cross the Khardong-la then ride down hill to Leh. From across here, capture and enjoy picturesque and amazing view of landscape of Leh town and Indus valley surrounded by snow covered huge HImalayan mountains. Arrive Leh by afternoon, Post Lunch, relax for a couple of hours then short hike around Leh market. Overnight at hotel in Leh. (3500m)

Day 11: Leh Day Free. Overnight at hotel in Leh.

Day 12: Sham Valley/Alchi/Rizdong/Lamayuru

Morning we drive to Uletikpo camp which is 70km from Leh will take 2 hrs on the way photo stop at Zanskar and Indus river confluence side and visit the Alchi monastery it is famous for the paintings built by the translator Rinchen zangpo, hot Lunch in Alchi after the lunch we drive to Ule camp, dinner and overnight in fixed camp.

Day 13: Lamayuru/Rizdong/Leh

We drive to Lamayuru monastery which is the oldest monastery in Ladakh and famous for its landscape, more than 1000 years back the great Tibetan master Naropa had visited this place and meditate at this place  and you can visit the cave also, hot lunch in the monastery hotel and drive back to Leh on the way visit Rizdong monastery which is belong to Geluk pa sect and visit the nunnery, dinner and overnight in hotel in Leh.

Day 14: Full day sightseeig of Stok – Matho – Hemis – Thiksey

After breakfast, ride Bike to Stok via Choglamsar by crossing a bridge on the river Indus. In Stok, visit the royal palace of present king and queen which constructed by the king Tsespal Tondup Namgyal in 1825. Inside the palace, you see great collection of ancient royal ornaments, Thankas and old statues. After visiting Stok Palace, drive to Matho village, 10 km from Stok. Visit Matho monastery built by Lama Tumgpa Dorje. The famous two oracles (known as Rongtsan), who were invited from Tibet by the founder of this monastery, still make appearance during the festival of the monastery.

Later, ride bike to Hemis monastery. The great Mahasiddha Staktsang Raspa along with great ancestor Singey Namgyal built this biggest monastery in 16th century. After visiting this monastery, drive back to Thiksey monastery, which is 27 km from Hemis. This monastery is the oldest monastery of Gelugpa sect in Ladakh. The great Lama Paldan Shesrap built in 14th century. Here you visit the big statue of the Future Buddha. After visiting this monastery ride back to Leh. Overnight at hotel in Leh. (3500m)

Day 15: Flight Leh – Delhi
